Overview

LiquidStack develops liquid-cooling hardware and services for information technology hardware, telecommunications, and blockchain systems, serving hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, edge, and blockchain data centers. Its product family includes direct-to-chip coolant distribution units (CDUs) such as the CDW-1MW (1,350 kW capacity, ETL/CSA/CE certified), single-phase and two-phase immersion cooling systems, and modular MicroModular™ and MacroModular™ data centers. The MicroModular™ offers 250 kW of liquid cooling in a small container and the MacroModular™ provides 1.5 MW in a full modular container for edge and 5G use cases. LiquidStack also supplies DataTank™, EdgeTank™, CryptoTank™, and related services covering installation, proactive maintenance, and continuous support. Led by CEO Joe Capes, the company plans to expand manufacturing, scale its direct-to-chip and immersion product roadmaps, and broaden commercial and R&D operations. The company recently completed a $20M Series B extension to support those initiatives. LiquidStack offers two-phase immersion liquid cooling marketed as a scalable, environmentally safe thermal management solution for hyperscale, cloud, colocation, edge, high-performance computing and crypto-mining applications. The company says it has the world’s largest install base of liquid cooling and pioneered 2-phase immersion cooling in 2012. LiquidStack reports that its technology can reduce direct and indirect carbon footprint by over 1,500 tons per MW versus air cooling, cut mechanical equipment energy use by about 40%, lower CAPEX by 33% and TCO by 32%, and shrink white space by up to 69%, while potentially reducing data center water use by over 300 billion liters per year. The company will use the Series B investment from Trane Technologies to ramp manufacturing, including opening a state-of-the-art U.S. facility with R&D labs, factory acceptance testing and a service training center. It also plans further R&D—particularly on advanced dielectric fluids that reduce global warming and ozone depletion—and to expand sales, marketing and service delivery capabilities. LiquidStack positions its technology as enabling heat capture for reuse in hot water supply, district heating or high-tech agriculture, increasing the sustainability value proposition. LiquidStack develops and deploys 2-phase immersion liquid cooling systems designed for high-density compute environments such as cloud, AI, edge, telecommunications and high-performance computing. Its technology enables substantially higher heat rejection per rack, large reductions in cooling energy use and whitespace, and near-zero water consumption for outside heat rejection. The company traces its commercial lineage to Allied Control Limited (ACL) and Bitfury, and reports deployments totaling over 160 MW and DataTank™ units operating at up to 252 kW per 48U rack. LiquidStack is headquartered in the Netherlands with commercial headquarters in the USA and R&D in Hong Kong. The company supports standards bodies including the Open Compute Project to accelerate adoption and interoperability. LiquidStack recently emerged from stealth with a $10M Series A strategic investment to accelerate product development, go-to-market and global supply-chain capabilities.
