Litherm
Dornbergsweg 2, Wernigerode, Sachsen-Anhalt, 38855, Germany
Overview
Litherm Technologies GmbH has created a completely electricity-based calcination technology that eliminates combustion and the associated fossil-fuel CO₂ emissions in lime and cement production. The system employs a highly efficient fluidized-bed design, capturing the process-generated CO₂ in concentrated form for CCU or CCS pathways without additional energy input. Litherm has already built a pilot plant at a Fels-Werke GmbH site in Sachsen-Anhalt and plans to move toward commercial demonstration units. The newly raised capital will fund further industrialization, engineering, construction, and commissioning of these first commercial demo plants. Industrial players such as Graymont, SigmaRoc (via SkreenHouse Ventures), and Kalkfabrik Netstal AG are involved to accelerate scale-up and market entry. Climate-focused investors like Breakthrough Energy Foundation complement the industrial backers. The seed financing of more than €6.5 million provides the resources for Litherm to advance its technology to full industrial readiness.
