Lithion Recycling

9388 Boulevard du Golf, Suite 410, Anjou, QC, H1J 3A1, Canada

Overview

Lithion Recycling has developed a mechanical and hydrometallurgical process that recovers up to 95% of strategic metals and battery components from end-of-life and product-waste lithium‑ion batteries. The company is launching its first commercial recycling operations this year, drawing on data from a Quebec industrial-scale demonstration plant commissioned in January 2020. Lithion’s near-term industrialization plan includes building a 7,500 metric tons/year mechanical separation “Spoke,” a Technology Development Center (TDC) for future battery chemistries and materials specs, and completing engineering studies for a Quebec-based hydrometallurgy “Hub.” The Spoke and TDC are expected to create close to 100 jobs in Quebec and support global deployment via licensing agreements. Lithion targets a worldwide footprint of 25 recycling plants by 2035 and positions its technology to reduce pressure on raw-material extraction and help meet decarbonization goals.
