Lithium de France

16 Rue des Couturières, Bischwiller, Alsace, 67240, France

Overview

Lithium de France is building an industrial platform that couples deep geothermal energy production with direct-lithium-extraction (DLE) technology to supply low-carbon heat and battery-grade lithium from the same brine. Its first operational site is in Schwabwiller (Alsace du Nord), where drilling on the initial geothermal well began on 24 November. The company holds several Exclusive Exploration Permits, including “Les Sources,” and continues subsurface studies across the region; it also selected Sedgman to carry out the front-end engineering design for its initial commercial plant. A scientific partnership has been signed with France’s BRGM to refine resource models, and the firm recently secured its first lithium supply agreement with Renault Group. Backed by parent company Arverne Group, Lithium de France aims to supply local agriculture and industry with continuous clean heat while delivering strategic European lithium volumes. To fund these plans the company has completed multiple capital rounds, most recently a €44 million raise that follows an €8 million Series A first close and a separate €40 million project financing supported by Equinor Ventures. These proceeds are being deployed to finish drilling, advance detailed engineering, and move the Schwabwiller project toward commercial operation.
