Little Labs is an L.A.-based app studio focused exclusively on building experiences for smartwatches and the “post-phone” era. The studio currently has a small handful of Android Wear and Apple Watch apps and plans to introduce several more over the coming year. Its products include Facer, a $1 watch-face designer for Android Wear that has between 100,000 and 500,000 downloads on Google Play, and Slots Time!, an Apple Watch slots game that will generate revenue through in-app purchases. Two other apps in development are TicTalk, a one-tap chat app for Android Wear, and Little TV, a prototype GIFs app. Little Labs brands itself "smartwatch-first" and focuses on short engagement sessions—users typically spend one to two minutes in a watch app. The company will use the funding to continue product development and hire designers and developers to expand its five-person team.
