The platform links an audience of millions to live-bidding action at more than 5,000 premier auction houses and galleries in 59 countries. The company will use proceeds from a recent strategic investment to invest in technology solutions for auction houses, including mobile advertising, custom websites, inventory management, and after-sale processes. It also plans to continue innovating with creative marketing to reach new buyers worldwide. Founded in 2002 and led by Executive Chairman Jason Finger and CEO Phil Michaelson, LiveAuctioneers provides an expertly curated marketplace for collectors and sellers. The transaction made Cove Hill Partners the majority owner, supporting the company’s planned product and marketing investments. LiveAuctioneers is a New York City–based online platform that hosts live and timed auctions for collectibles, antiques and fine art. Founded in 2002 by chairman Julian Ellison, the platform has enabled over 2,500 auctioneers and other purveyors of unique inventory to host auctions online. The company raised $47.6M to support investments in people, product innovation, marketing, international expansion and acquisitions. Bessemer Venture Partners led the financing and will have partner Brian Feinstein join LiveAuctioneers’ board of directors. The raise is intended to accelerate product development and expand the company’s international reach and inventory partnerships.
