Overview
Livescale Technologies offers a live shopping platform that allows brands and merchants to host live e-commerce shopping events across desktop, tablet and mobile, with integrated chat and purchasing. Its software integrates directly with payment processors so shoppers can check out without leaving the live stream; Livescale says it has helped more than 300 companies. Launched in 2016 and operating in the experiential commerce market, the Montréal startup reported a ten-fold revenue increase between March 2020 and January 2021. The company raised a $2.5M CAD post-seed round, bringing total funding to date to $3.5M CAD. The proceeds will be used to accelerate hiring (the team was 21 and aims for 45), expand in the US and Europe, and launch new platform initiatives. CEO Virgile Ollivier said the round was intended to extend the runway ahead of a larger Series A planned for the summer. Livescale offers a cloud platform that provides reach, engagement, and monetization for live video events and experiences. The platform automates live streaming and can deploy across multiple cloud providers, allowing customers to broadcast to social networks (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Twitch) as well as websites and mobile. Livescale says its current version can handle up to 1,500 events per day and that more than 500 customers use the service. The company was founded in 2016 and was selected for the Real Ventures-associated FounderFuel acceleration program. After more than three years of R&D the team emphasizes a reliable, robust, and scalable product. Livescale closed funding to support growth in Canada and to optimize its multi-cloud live video technology.
