LivingPackets develops THE BOX, an intelligent, tech‑enabled reusable shipping container equipped with sensors to track parcels and change delivery addresses. The boxes can be reused up to 1,000 times and are intended to reduce shipping waste from e‑commerce. The product is currently in a pre‑production phase, and the company says several thousand companies have shown interest or requested to use the product once available. This year the startup is concentrating on entering the market in Germany and France with select online retailers and plans to continuously expand production thereafter. LivingPackets highlights the environmental rationale by noting more than 100 billion cardboard boxes are shipped annually in e‑commerce, requiring roughly 700 million trees to be cut down each year.
