URB-E operates a compact container delivery network that replaces trucks with pedal-powered bikes and modular containers to save space in dense urban environments. Its containers were designed by engineer Sven Etzelsberger, formerly of Porsche and Fisker. The company has deployed a fleet of pedal-powered container systems through partnerships with major online retailers and logistics companies. URB-E reports over 1,800 containers moving more than 100,000 packages in New York City. Led by new CEO Charles Jolley, with Sven Etzelsberger as CTO and Peter Lee as co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, the company is focused on scaling its local delivery networks. It intends to use the new funding to further expand those local delivery networks.
