Lobus builds an art asset management platform that uses blockchain ownership proofs to enable fractional ownership and creator-friendly mechanisms similar to NFT marketplaces. The product bundles provenance with a CRM, analytics tools and dynamic pricing, positioned as a Carta-like platform for the art market. Co-CEOs Sarah Wendell Sherrill and Lori Hotz lead an ex-Christie’s and Sotheby’s team seeking to commoditize blockchain tech for physical and digital art. The company aims to let artists retain partial ownership so they can earn commissions on secondary sales. Lobus reports partnerships with around 300 active artists and has sold the platform to collectors, artist estates and asset managers. Its database includes roughly 45,000 art objects representing about $5.4 billion in asset value.
