Locai develops off-cloud AI infrastructure that enables AI inference to run on end-user devices rather than on third-party cloud servers. The company says this approach converts rising, variable cloud API costs and margin liabilities into predictable fixed costs and improves control over data sovereignty. Locai targets SaaS and desktop AI vendors—such as makers of meeting tools, writing platforms, code assistants and customer support products—that currently face per-API-call cloud billing. It aims to drive demand from CTOs, VPs of engineering and founders as those customers transition to an on-device model. Locai participated in the Google for Startups Accelerator initial cohort. Financially, the startup has just completed a £1M pre-seed round led by Fuel Ventures to scale go-to-market activities.
