Overview
LOC-AID operates a location-enabling mobile transaction platform and says it runs the world’s largest mobile location data gateway, a location aggregation platform for carriers. The platform integrates deep within carriers’ infrastructures and processing systems to help wireless operators such as AT&T, Sprint and Verizon deliver location-aware content faster. LOC-AID does not operate location-based service applications itself and positions itself as an enabler rather than an app provider. The company recently announced it had surpassed 300 million mobile device accesses. LOC-AID has raised $13 million in funding according to an SEC filing and is backed by Intersouth Partners and H.I.G. Ventures. Bain Capital Ventures managing director Jeffrey Glass also serves on the company’s board. The company is led by CEO Robert 'Rip' Gerber, formerly GM, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Nokia/Intellisync.
