Lodestar
Unit 20, Newington Industrial Estate, London, SE17 3AZ, United Kingdom
Overview
Lodestar is building a platform-agnostic robotics system that begins with a dexterous robotic arm intended as an orbital “first responder” to inspect, repair, and protect satellites. The arm is designed to be interoperable, able to swap end effectors and potentially provide interfaces such as refueling in the future. The team has completed zero-gravity testing of electrical, mechanical, and vision systems and aims to conduct an in-orbit demonstration with an uncooperative asset by the end of 2025. The company plans to fly a flight-ready model as a hosted payload on a partner space tug next year and intends to expand to the U.S. to engage commercial and defense customers. Lodestar has eight employees and advisers including former SpaceX VP Lee Rosen and former Spaceflight CEO Curt Blake. Financially, the company has raised $2.5 million to date via a mix of non-dilutive funding and equity pre-seed investment.
