Founded in 2010 by Dr. Trevor Parsons and Dr. Viliam Holub, LogEntries emerged from University College Dublin’s Performance Engineering Laboratory and was incubated at Dogpatch Labs in Dublin with support from Launchpad, UCD’s Nova Innovation Center and Enterprise Ireland. The company has appointed Andrew Burton as president and CEO. LogEntries will use the new funding to accelerate product development and expand. The company was spun out of University College Dublin after working with IBM and was founded by Dr. Trevor Parsons and Dr. Viliam Holub. It has been operating out of the Polaris-backed Dogpatch Labs Europe in Dublin since last October and claims to have several thousand users and hundreds of paying customers. LogEntries positions itself against competitors like Loggly, Sumo Logic and Splunk by emphasising an academic-built, from-the-ground-up architecture rather than a 'Splunk-in-the-cloud' approach. Financially, the company recently closed a $1.1M funding round led by Polaris Venture Partners, RRE Ventures and Frontline Ventures and backed by Enterprise Ireland.
