Longshot Space is building ground-based kinetic launchers intended to accelerate payloads to hypersonic speeds and ultimately enable a scalable pathway to orbit. The company has developed prototypes including the “minigun” and is constructing a test gun designed to accelerate 100-kilogram payloads above Mach 5. With recent expansions of its engineering and manufacturing capabilities, Longshot has added a new hangar and test range to support development and testing. The company has raised a total of $20 million to date, including the latest $5 million from South Park Commons, and has also received support from other venture investors and the U.S. government. Longshot plans to use the funds to continue testing its multi-injection accelerator technology and advance toward larger-scale launch systems, while growing its team and government-facing capabilities.
