Overview
Loop Biotech builds sustainable, self-composting burial products — including the Loop Living Cocoon coffin, the Loop ForestBed carrier, and the Loop EarthRise urn — made from upcycled hemp and mycelium. Its core product, the Loop coffin, is grown in seven days and can be fully absorbed by nature in about 45 days, returning nutrients to soil and plants. Founder Bob Hendrikx began work on mycelium materials during research at TU Delft and positioned the company to address demand for biodegradable funeral products. The company plans to upscale production and expand its factory to produce “faster, better, and cheaper,” and to make Loop products accessible to a wider range of budgets. Loop has partnered with Limbraco, an international leader in turn‑key mushroom farms and sustainable climate technology, to help scale manufacturing. Financially, Loop completed a recent crowdfunding campaign that attracted more than 1,000 new shareholders and raised €2 million in two weeks.
