Loopworm develops silkworm recombinant production technology for insect biotechnology and biomanufacturing. Founded in 2019 by IIT Roorkee alumni Ankit Alok Bagaria and Abhi Gawri and based in Bengaluru, the company employs over 60 people, including more than 20 scientists. Loopworm has raised $6.65 million to date, including a $3.4 million seed round in 2022 and a $3.25 million pre-Series A. The startup has generated approximately ₹20 crore in revenue since inception. Its recent funding is earmarked to expand silkworm recombinant production capabilities. Loopworm has also received support from organizations including Social Alpha, the H&M Foundation, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, and the Department of Biotechnology.
