Loris.ai repurposes the learnings and counseling practices of Crisis Text Line into an artificial intelligence platform that helps companies and municipalities handle charged conversations. The product is designed to educate employees on performance discussions, human relations, upset customers, firings and layoffs, and diversity and inclusion. Loris.ai plans to speak with roughly 50 companies and then invite a small handful it deems committed to compassion, authenticity and empathy to participate. The company aims to be in beta by Q2 and has already heard from interested organizations, including at least one law enforcement agency. Unlike Crisis Text Line, Loris.ai will operate as a for-profit venture; the founder declined to disclose pricing. Loris.ai’s approach is informed by Crisis Text Line’s experience—Crisis Text Line has trained over 12,000 counselors who have handled over 62 million messages.
