Lotus Tissue Repair

Cambridge, MA, United States

Overview

Lotus Tissue Repair is developing a proprietary recombinant collagen type VII (rC7) technology as a protein replacement therapy. Its lead program is the first and only protein replacement approach in development for dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB), an orphan disease with no approved treatments. The company has an exclusive license from the University of Southern California for the patent portfolio and technology developed by Drs. Mei Chen and David Woodley. Preclinical studies have shown rC7 to be potent, long‑lasting and to home specifically to wounded skin in multiple models. Lotus plans to advance rC7 for DEB and pursue broader dermatologic and wound‑healing applications such as diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers and related indications. The private company was launched in 2011 and is backed by a team of biotechnology entrepreneurs and the scientific inventors of the rC7 technology.
