Lowdown analyzes a user’s iPhone calendar and contacts to generate contextual information for meetings, including travel options and times, departure reminders, maps, participant and company profiles, tweets, shared connections and recent email correspondence. The app surfaces options to avoid travel (conference-call links such as Skype, GoToMeeting, Google Hangout, WebEx) alongside physical travel routes and timings. Lowdown positions itself as a “logic driven application delivered in context,” aiming to reduce meeting prep time and claims it can save users about two hours per week (roughly 12 working days a year). It competes with services such as Refresh and the calendar features of Tempo, Sunrise and Magneto. The company is launching its app globally on the Apple App Store and is led by CEO David Senior. Financially, Lowdown has raised £260,000 in seed funding and is planning additional fundraising.
