엘에스바이오 develops a fermented bioactive compound called LS-1000 and manufactures dietary supplements using that substance. The company has launched the LS-1000 supplement '디알프리' and a hangover-relief/energy drink '화깨수', which sell online and offline. Its business model reinvests profits from the dietary supplement business into development of natural-product pharmaceuticals. The recent bridge funding will be used to expand the company’s supplement product line and to prepare preclinical studies for drug development. Management says the ultimate goal is to develop a diabetes treatment and a pancreatic-function improvement drug. The company was selected for the government TIPS program and secured two years of R&D funding to support those efforts. CEO Jang Daeyong has stated a plan to validate LS-1000’s anti-diabetic efficacy, complete preclinical work, and enter clinical Phase 1 by 2025.
