Lunar Forge

Overview

Lunar Forge develops laser-sintering systems that heat and fuse lunar regolith powder into solid construction materials without fully melting it. The company plans to use locally sourced lunar materials to reduce the high cost of transporting construction supplies from Earth and initially focuses on building protective structures for lunar fission reactors. Its near-term plan includes a first lunar demonstration mission in 2027 using a solar- and battery-powered processor, followed by missions that add radioisotope power for continuous operation and deployments of multiple coordinated autonomous sintering units. Leadership cites extreme launch costs (about $1 million per kilogram) as a key driver for in-situ manufacturing. Lunar Forge is currently raising a $7 million pre-seed round and projects needing an additional $160 million over three years to reach its development milestones. The company has recruited advisors with Artemis, geomechanics, nuclear construction, and space sciences expertise to guide its roadmap.
