Luno operates a bitcoin wallet, an exchange and merchant-services suite that helps banks and retailers work with bitcoin. The company has offices in Singapore, Cape Town and London and was among the first cohort admitted to the FCA’s Regulatory Sandbox in London. Luno has worked with merchants such as Pick N Pay and emphasizes a mass-market, mobile-friendly product with strong customer service. The new funding will be used to expand its services into 35 new countries in Europe and to grow its global footprint to 40 countries. Luno plans to double its headcount from 70 to support the expansion and will roll out additional deposit methods and country-specific localization. To date the company has raised $13.8M and will deploy the capital to support market entry and scaling efforts.
