Overview
Lykos Therapeutics (formerly MAPS Public Benefit Corporation) develops investigational MDMA-assisted therapy to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The company has completed two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 3 trials (MAPP1 and MAPP2) that met primary and secondary endpoints and has submitted a new drug application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. If approved, the therapy would be the first psychedelic-assisted therapy for PTSD; Lykos is preparing regulatory and pre-launch activities to integrate the therapy into the healthcare system. Lykos rebranded from MAPS PBC and is transitioning from a research-stage organization to a for-profit public benefit corporation focused on commercialization; it was founded by the non-profit MAPS in 2014. The company notes Breakthrough Therapy designation for MDMA since 2017 and has requested Priority Review of its NDA, while also stating that MDMA-assisted therapy has not been approved and its safety and efficacy have not been established. The recent financing will support regulatory, pre-launch and commercialization preparations.
