LYSOGENE

18-20 rue Jacques Dulud, Neuilly-sur-Seine, Île-de-France, 92200, France

Overview

Lysogene is a biotechnology company specializing in the research and development of gene therapies for rare neurodegenerative diseases. The company has two drug candidates in clinical development: LYS-SAF302 in phase 2/3 for Sanfilippo syndrome type A and LYS-GM101 in phase 1/2 for GM1 gangliosidosis. It recently secured EUR 4.3 million in non-dilutive financing from Bpifrance to support development activities. The financing comprises a EUR 3.0 million R&D innovation loan to fund the clinical study of LYS-GM101 and a EUR 1.3 million reimbursable advance to prepare preclinical studies of LYS-FXS01 for Fragile X syndrome. The R&D loan is fully drawn at signature and will be amortized over five years beginning in 2024. The reimbursable advance is payable in two installments (EUR 0.9 million on signature and EUR 0.4 million in 2024) and is repayable over five years starting in 2025. Lysogene focuses on developing intracerebral gene therapies for neurodegenerative and other severe genetic pathologies, with a lead program for Sanfilippo syndrome Type A. The company completed a phase I–II study of its lead product in 2013. It plans to use the new funding to expand clinical studies toward marketing approval in Europe and the US and to advance a second product in its pipeline. Lysogene was founded in 2009 by CEO Karen Aiach and Professor Olivier Danos, its scientific advisor. The company emphasizes treatments for CNS-involved lysosomal storage diseases, such as Sanfilippo, an often fatal childhood disorder affecting roughly 1 in 100,000 births.
