Overview

mabl offers a low-code test automation platform that unifies end-to-end user interface and API testing to help software teams reduce the effort to create, run, and manage tests. The platform targets quality engineering needs across eCommerce, technology, finance, travel, and more. mabl counts customers in over 50 countries, including Barracuda, Charles Schwab, Chewy, DataRobot, Dollar Shave Club, jetBlue, NCR, and Stack Overflow. The company is led by Dan Belcher and Izzy Azeri. Following the new financing, mabl plans to expand operations and hire across all departments while broadening its global sales and marketing reach. The raise strengthens its financial position to pursue growth and customer expansion. Mabl offers a cloud service that uses machine learning to automate software QA by observing websites and services rather than instrumenting code. The platform detects issues like increased load times and broken links, flags the failing step, captures screenshots, and presents findings in a dashboard for teams to analyze. Mabl launched in beta in February and went GA in May, and has added an enterprise product to meet larger customers' needs. Enterprise features include secure tunneling (Mabl Link), stronger encryption, cross-browser testing, and integration with single sign-on, plus higher levels of support and training. Customers can try the full feature set for 21 days, then downgrade to Pro or sign up for the enterprise tier. The company currently has 30 employees in Boston and plans to grow headcount to about 70 over the next year to expand enterprise sales, customer success, and engineering. Mabl provides a machine-learning-based functional testing service that lets users create tests by demonstrating workflows rather than writing brittle tests by hand. The service scans sites on signup, performs tests via a Chrome plugin, and adapts to small UI changes while alerting developers to visual changes, JavaScript errors, broken links and increased load times. Mabl runs on the Google Cloud Platform and uses tools such as Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Cloud ML Engine and App Engine. Early customers from the closed beta include RunKeeper, creative agency 24G and Codeship. The company is coming out of stealth with a preview period that is free to developers; it currently has about 20 employees and plans to monetize after preview, likely by charging based on the amount of testing users perform. Mabl has raised funding to support these plans, including a recent Series A.
