Catalia Health builds Mabu, a home robot that monitors patients' health and relays data to doctors. Mabu asks daily about mood, wellbeing, medication intake and can remind patients about doses. Users can respond by voice or by selecting options on the robot's built-in screen, and both input modes may be used simultaneously. The system is primarily intended to track patients with diabetes, arthritis, cancer, heart disease and other noninfectious illnesses. As of the article the company has produced only an alpha prototype. The founder aims to sign the first medical contracts by the end of the year, and the company raised funds to help bring the product to the medical market.
