Overview

MacroFab offers a technology platform that advances electronics manufacturing by streamlining operations, improving efficiency and providing visibility into production. The platform supports prototypes, production, and extended services through a network of over 100 factories across North America. The company intends to use newly raised capital to further advance its platform, expand operations and accelerate revenue growth. MacroFab recently received $20M in growth financing from Trinity Capital Inc. (NASDAQ: TRIN). Earlier this year it raised $42M in equity led by Foundry and joined by BMW i Ventures, Edison Partners and ATX Venture Partners. Those rounds bring the company’s total capital raised to $102M. MacroFab is a Houston, TX–based cloud manufacturing platform that manages electronics manufacturing from prototype to high-scale production. Its technology platform connects customers to a network of 100+ factories across North America and provides visibility into production. Led by CEO Misha Govshteyn, the company reported shipments were up 275% year-over-year as companies moved electronics production to North America. MacroFab has doubled its workforce and opened a new facility in Mexico. The company raised $42M in new growth funding and has now raised a total of $82M. It intends to use the funds to continue expanding operations and broaden its business reach. MacroFab provides a digital platform that enables supply chain teams to build everything from PCB assemblies to fully tested and packaged electronics products. Enterprises use the system to consolidate vendors or reshore production from China to North America. The company aggregates unused capacity at 75+ factories across the US, Canada and Mexico to offer mid-market firms an alternative to offshoring amid constrained capacity and disrupted lead times. MacroFab is led by Misha Govshteyn (CEO), Chris Church (Founder and Chief Product Officer) and Chris Granberry (COO). The company plans to use the new funding to accelerate expansion in North America, increase investment in R&D and sales/marketing, and open a new distribution center for international logistics this summer. MacroFab raised $15M in a Series B round announced May 26, 2021. MacroFab provides a cloud-based platform where users can upload PCB designs, get instant quotes, and have boards printed in MacroFab’s factory. The platform includes access to an inventory of over 250,000 electronic components and a pricing/risk matrix that suggests parts based on production scale. MacroFab’s software consolidates multiple prototyping orders into larger jobs so setup costs can be shared, enabling lower-cost one-off prototype runs. About half of the company’s orders are small-quantity test boards and the other half are larger mass-production orders. The company also offers a full-service API allowing programmatic quoting and ordering without visiting the site. MacroFab plans to use new funding to bolster its R&D staff and add new platform features.
