Overview

Founded in July 2023 by Periscope alumni Kayvon Beykpour (CEO) and Joe Bernstein, along with Magic Pony founder Rob Bishop, San Francisco-based Macroscope offers an “AI-powered understanding engine” for software teams. After installing the company’s GitHub app—and optional Slack, Linear, or JIRA integrations—the platform performs AST-based code walking combined with large language models to map a customer’s codebase. Engineers can automatically detect bugs in pull requests, receive PR summaries, and ask research questions about the code, while product leaders get real-time progress updates and productivity insights without disrupting developers. Internal benchmarks on 100+ real-world bugs showed Macroscope catching 5 percent more bugs and generating 75 percent fewer comments than the next-best tool. The service is priced at $30 per active developer per month (minimum five seats) with enterprise tiers available. Early customers include XMTP, Things, United Masters, Bilt, Class.com, Seed.com, ParkHub, and A24 Labs. The 20-person startup has raised $40 million to date.
