Overview
madvertise operates a Europe-wide mobile ad network that enables advertisers to target select audiences and helps developers and publishers monetize apps and mobile websites. The company reports a large presence in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and generates 1.4 billion monthly page impressions. madvertise was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Berlin, Germany. It currently has offices in Hamburg, London, Barcelona, Madrid and Milan and employs about 50 people. The company recently activated a €5m developer fund and plans to add additional locations in the near future. It intends to use new funding to further expand across the European market. Madvertise has added GPS and location-based targeting to its mobile ad platform, enabling advertisers to reach users by exact GPS location, city, region or state. Where apps do not provide GPS data, the company’s system falls back on other localization algorithms that TechCrunch presumes mix IP address and/or cell positioning. The platform is also rolling out a next generation of mobile ads with support for rich media. Since launch the company says it increased reach from 60 million to over 700 million page impressions per month and expanded targeting from 3 countries to 50. Madvertise reports performance-advertising partnerships with 50% of the top 10 mobile publishers in Germany (including Vodafone) and has run international campaigns for brands such as Ford, Lufthansa and Continental. Headcount grew from 10 to 30 in the same year, and part of the newly raised funds were earmarked for international expansion.
