Mae
The Point Granite Way Mountsorrel, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE12 7TZ, United Kingdom
Overview
Mae is a culturally competent digital health platform connecting Black expectant mothers with critical resources to drive positive pregnancy outcomes. The product pairs doula-style continuous support with health tracking tools that enable early identification of pregnancy risk factors, plus curated, culturally specific educational and lifestyle resources available on demand. Mae launched with a $1.3M pre-seed funding round led by SteelSky Ventures. Founder and CEO Maya Hardigan created Mae after 15 years in digital health product innovation, most recently at Pfizer, and collaborated with leaders of large healthcare corporations to develop the hybrid care offering. The company works in concert with healthcare payers and states and plans to become a value-based, supplemental care approach to improve care for Black pregnant women. Mae positions its model to address maternal health inequities amid policy shifts expanding postpartum Medicaid coverage and growing reimbursement consideration for doulas and related services.
