MagicX is operated by Bangalore-based Magiclane App Services Pvt Ltd and was launched in February 2016 by Pratyush Prasanna and Arun Kumar. The app is a chat-enabled, AI-driven platform that enables users to carry out day-to-day tasks including grocery shopping, bill payments, mobile recharge, ordering food, and booking flights. Currently available only on Android, MagicX has tied up with about 20 partners and the app claims to have witnessed more than 10,000 downloads. The startup is promoted by GrowthStory, the venture builder founded by K Ganesh and Meena Ganesh. Founders have relevant exits and leadership experience: Pratyush Prasanna was previously VP at Paytm and founded Plustxt (acquired by Paytm in 2013), while Arun Kumar was senior vice president at Portea Medical. The company says it will use new funds for team expansion, marketing initiatives, adding more service categories and technology upgradation, and aims to become the largest conversational commerce company in India.
