Magnolia Broadband develops Adaptive Antenna Systems (AAS), a beam‑forming technology designed to improve data throughput, coverage and real‑time HD video performance for smartphones and tablets. Its AAS innovations are also applicable to small 3G/4G base stations and Wi‑Fi access points. The company sold over 50 patents to Google in 2012 and continued to patent new beam‑forming technology in 2012 and 2013. Magnolia plans to expand its patent portfolio and advance licensing efforts with wireless network operators globally. Management says the technology can address significant mobile data growth without changes to base stations or wireless standards. Magnolia is headquartered in Englewood, New Jersey. Magnolia Broadband develops DiversityPlusTM, an RF chipset that enables mobile transmit diversity and dual-antenna designs for cell phones. The company’s DiversityPlus chips aim to increase subscriber capacity within existing wireless infrastructure while improving coverage, data throughput, connection reliability and battery life. DiversityPlus is being commercialized for CDMA2000, UMTS/WCDMA and WiMAX standards. Magnolia intends to use new funding to accelerate commercialization in the United States and Korean marketplaces. The company has filed numerous patents related to its core technology. Since its inception in 2001, Magnolia has raised more than $40 million in equity and is headquartered in Bedminster, N.J. Management says the new funding will carry the company into 2007 toward profitability.
