Magnull Fusion

1–3, Kioichō, Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan

Overview

Magnull Fusion is a nuclear-fusion startup spun out of Peking University in 2024 and co-founded by the university’s Yanyuan Incubator and Stream Hill Angels. The company is pioneering a new approach called “magnetic zero-point confinement configuration fusion” that aims to make electricity generation dramatically cheaper and cleaner. Proceeds are being used to design and build its first experimental reactor, which will be used to validate key parameters of the technology. After collecting data from this initial device, the team plans to develop second- and third-generation experimental units to accelerate commercialization. Chief Scientist Xiao Chijie, an associate professor in Peking University’s School of Physics, leads the technical program and, in March 2025, helped establish a joint laboratory with Peking University. If successful, the technology could enable ultra-low-cost power for the grid and even propel rockets. The company is currently pre-revenue and financed by its recent angel round.
