Overview
Magnus Medical develops the Magnus System, an investigational, individualized non-invasive neurostimulation therapy for treatment-resistant major depressive disorder, based on SAINT technology licensed from Stanford University. The company received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, and the device is expected to require 501(k) clearance before commercial availability. Clinical data published in the American Journal of Psychiatry from a randomized controlled trial showed rapid effects: 79% remission in the active arm (14 treated) versus 13% in sham (15), and an earlier pilot reported 90% remission (19 of 21). Responders experienced dramatic symptom improvement within five days, including reductions in suicidal thoughts, and quality-of-life measures improved. Magnus plans to further develop the technology into an integrated treatment system and to support clinical trials of individually targeted, accelerated neuromodulation. The company is privately held and led by co-founders Brett Wingeier, Ph.D., and Brandon Bentzley, M.D., Ph.D., alongside senior executives Scott Ashworth and Romain Moreau-Godard.
