MagREEsource develops technology to manufacture permanent magnets from recycled rare-earth materials, offering magnets with a 91% lower carbon footprint compared with magnets from Chinese mining. The company operates a pilot plant in Noyarey that became operational in December 2024 and has a current capacity of 80 tonnes per year. It employs 50 people and uses two core processes that will form the basis of its future large-scale factory. MagREEsource plans a MagFactory targeted to reach 1,000 tonnes per year by 2028 and has been labeled a "Projet Stratégique Européen" under the EU Critical Raw Material Act. The startup aims to build a sovereign, low-carbon supply chain for magnets and to reduce dependence on the Chinese market. Target markets include wind power, aerospace, robotics and defense.
