Magroove operates a digital distribution and promotion platform for independent musicians and an app that uses AI to recommend music based on musical similarity. The startup offers free publishing services, uploads artists’ content to streaming platforms, and collects and redistributes streaming royalties. It shifted from an initial “Tinder for independent music” idea to focus on distribution and business services for artists. Users can listen to up to 30 seconds of a track to like or dislike it; liked tracks go to discovery lists with links to full streams. The company reports more than 750,000 artists and users registered on the platform across over 190 countries. Magroove says it will invest the recent funding into improving its product and platform.
