MaiaSpace
Paris - La Défense, Île-de-France, France
Overview
Founded in 2021 as a wholly owned subsidiary of ArianeGroup, MaiaSpace is building Maia, a two-stage rocket with a reusable first stage. The launcher is designed to deliver 500 kg to low Earth orbit when the first stage is recovered and up to 1,500 kg when flown expendably. The company is targeting an inaugural flight in late 2026 and plans to operate from the renovated former Soyuz launch complex in French Guiana. In 2024 MaiaSpace reported €180 million in advance payments tied to France 2030 awards and undisclosed private service contracts, as well as a €45 million equity injection from ArianeGroup. The equity deal also included 10 million share-subscription warrants that could generate an additional €40 million if exercised. After expenditures, MaiaSpace closed 2024 with a €176.6 million net cash position, up sharply from €16.9 million in 2023. This substantial reserve is expected to carry the company through launch-site refurbishment and its maiden flight.
