Hello Santa is a video chat app that lets children have live, one-on-one FaceTime-style calls with a real Santa and provides a keepsake recording of the session. The app charges around $14.99–$15 per call and supports scheduled visits with child-specific prep notes so Santa can address the child by name. The product aims to replicate and improve on the mall Santa experience by avoiding long lines and frozen moments, while offering a shareable video keepsake. Early users reported some glitches in scheduling and occasional missing video, but the company remedied issues by offering free re-calls and recordings. Since launching in late November the team says it has sold hundreds of calls. Make Believe Labs plans to expand the platform beyond Christmas — enabling visits with other characters and licensing the underlying scheduling/calling/recording technology to third parties.
