Maker's Row

20 Jay Street #312, Brooklyn, New York, 11201, United States

Overview

Maker's Row operates an online marketplace that connects small businesses with U.S. manufacturers, with an early focus on apparel and accessories production. Launched in November 2012 and based in Brooklyn, the company has worked with thousands of businesses. Its platform lets buyers search by category or keyword to find factories and suppliers; factories pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee and Maker's Row does not take commission on transactions. The company says it will use new funding to build out its tech team and expand into new industries, and it plans to deepen its focus on regional manufacturing clusters starting with a Newark, NJ microsite. Longer term, Maker's Row intends to offer its marketplace across multiple verticals and serve both first-time entrepreneurs and larger brands looking to boost U.S. production. Founders include CEO Matthew Burnett, COO and co-founder Tanya Menendez, and Scott Weiner; the business originally raised angel funding and emerged from the Brooklyn Beta Summer Camp.
