Manus Machina

High Tech Campus, Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant, 5656, The Netherlands

Overview

Manus Machina is a Dutch startup developing flexible data gloves that track finger bending via flex sensors and hand orientation using an IMU with nine degrees of freedom. The gloves include a tactile engine for haptic feedback and a battery pack to avoid wired connections, and rely on an external camera for hand positioning. The team plans a developer kit in the next two to three months priced at $280 and a consumer product targeted for Q1–Q2 next year with an expected retail price of around $200. Manus aims to be device-agnostic so the gloves can work with various VR headsets and supports a Manus SDK with a skeletal hand model to enable collision detection and gesture mapping. The company is focused on driving developer buy-in so games can expose hand presence and bespoke interactions rather than relying solely on mapped keystrokes. It is building initial hardware at cost and expects to make margins if the market scales.
