MapD
180 Sansome Street, San Francisco, 94104
Overview
MapD has launched its GPU Database and Visual Analytics platform. The company is a vertically integrated, end-to-end solution for data querying, visualization, and analysis. It uses the computational power of next-generation parallel hardware such as graphics processing units (GPUs) and Intel Many-Core processors (for example, the Phi card) as the backbone of its data processing and visualization engine. MapD marries the data processing and querying features of a traditional RDBMS with advanced analytic and visualization capabilities. The company announced a $10M Series A round led by Vanedge Capital with participation from Verizon Ventures and Nvidia, joining earlier investor GV (formerly Google Ventures).
