marinanow

Cagliari, Sardegna, Italy

Overview

Marinanow operates an online platform for chartering boats across the Mediterranean. The service lets users check availability and prices of boat moorings from computers and smartphones. It enables searching and chartering from 9,000 moorings with a wide choice of sailboats, motorboats, and inflatables, with or without crew. The startup raised €1.2 million in funding, which consisted of a €700,000 convertible loan and a €500,000 investment. The capital was provided by The Net Value incubator and the United Ventures Ones fund. Marinanow operates an online marketplace for booking marina berths and boat charters, enabling users to search by location and pay online. The platform facilitates hiring berths from private owners (an Airbnb-style service) and offers refuelling/bunkerage services. It spun out of The Net Value incubator and was tested in the summer of 2013. The company lists over 1,000 marinas and ports and 4,000 boats across Italy, France, Spain and Croatia. Founded in Sardinia, Italy in 2012 by Alessandro Sestini, Paolo Codina and Andrea Corvaglia, the founding team has direct marina experience. Marinanow targets a fragmented global berth market with an annual value of more than €200bn and positions itself to scale toward a booking marketplace for berths worldwide.
