Marinus Pharmaceuticals is a Branford, Conn.-based developer of Ganaxolone, a neuroactive steroid for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric indications. The company licensed Ganaxolone from Purdue Pharma in 2003 and has reformulated and optimized it using its patented nanotechnology platform. Marinus is led by CEO Christopher M. Cashman. The company raised an additional $21M in Series C financing. Backers on the round include Domain Associates, RusnanoMedInvest, Canaan Partners, Sofinnova Ventures and Foundation Medical Partners. The funding will enable further clinical development in epilepsy and other CNS indications.
