The platform includes lead scoring, reusable email templates, and automation for triggered and batch campaigns, plus an SMB-focused product called Spark. Customers can route scored leads to sales and nurture prospects, and the company cites McKesson as adding $2 billion in revenue after using Marketo. Last year’s revenue was $14 million; management projected 140% growth to about $35 million this year and expected sales to double in 2012. From total funding to date, Marketo has $70 million in the bank and plans to use proceeds for international expansion and product development. The company is also eyeing an IPO within the next 12–15 months. Marketo is a San Mateo, CA–based provider of cloud-based Revenue Performance Management solutions. Its software is designed to enable collaboration across the revenue cycle, from demand generation and lead management to pursuit of revenue and customer loyalty. The company said it will use new funds to accelerate product, technology and market development initiatives. In November 2010 Marketo secured $25M in funding led by Institutional Venture Partners. The company previously closed a $10M Series D round in April 2010. An IVP general partner, Norm Fogelsong, joined Marketo’s board in conjunction with the financing. Marketo builds web tools for salespeople and marketers, including automation for email marketing campaigns and analytics for sales leads. Its applications integrate with other sales apps like Salesforce.com. The company says it has signed up more than 500 customers in the last two years. Competitors include Eloqua and LoopFuse. To fund continued growth, Marketo has raised multiple rounds totaling $32 million to date, including $8 million in August 2008 and another round in September 2009. The latest $10 million fourth-round, led by Mayfield Fund, is intended to help the San Mateo, Calif. company grow even faster. Management said the new funding will accelerate the company’s vision for that suite and support expansion of its enterprise-class team. Leadership emphasized using the capital to serve a larger portion of the available market.
