Mashroom is a London proptech that offers an end-to-end lettings and property management platform covering the entire rental journey. The self-service platform lets landlords list properties and handles advertising, arranging viewings, digital credit and reference checks, rental agreement signing, tenancy renewals, maintenance and dispute resolution. It uses open banking to collect rental payments and provide real-time payment information, and the company says it digitises about "98%" of the rental journey while retaining human support for tasks like maintenance and dispute handling. Mashroom has developed financial products including a Deposit Replacement Product in partnership with insurer Arch Capital—letting tenants pay one week’s rent while offering landlords up to 12 weeks of protection—and also offers rent guarantee and other insurance products. The basic Mashroom service is free for tenants and landlords; the startup generates revenue via its financial products and operates an in-house mortgage brokerage for buy-to-let mortgages and refinancing. The company recently raised new funding that brings total funding to date to £7 million.
