Maslow is a social-impact startup building a digital platform that will offer customers access to a suite of financial products and services at cost price, supported by a value-based monthly subscription fee. The company says this approach will disrupt traditional financial services by aligning profits with the quality of service provided rather than product margins. Maslow was cofounded by CEO Kane Jackson alongside Caitlin Robinson and Mina Calvert and the founders describe the team as Australia’s only all-queer and predominantly female founding team. The funds from the recent raise will be used for new hires and to develop Maslow’s offering; the team has added financial education advocate Lacey Filipich and marketer Joan Westenberg. Maslow and its supporters view the crowdfunding result as public validation of the company’s mission and of demand for early-stage impact startups outside traditional funding channels.
