MasterFX is a mobile photo and video editing app launched for iPad and iPhone that aims to deliver professional-grade editing tools without steep learning curves. The app includes over 1,500 photo elements, effects, characters, backgrounds, brushes, an advanced text editor, and an automatic light-balancing function. It exposes heavy-duty features found in desktop tools—distort, layers manager, opacity control, mask and brushes—presented as simplified single-step tools. MasterFX ships with 32 paid in-app packages and a gallery of a few million royalty-free photos priced at $0.05 per photo. The app is produced by Dropico Mobile studio in Israel, which has also built FilterMania, WowFX and InstaFonts. Dropico reports over 10 million downloads across its apps, and co-founder Sagi Hirsh says they plan to extend the app as they go. Dropico has attracted $2.3 million in angel funding, which supports its product efforts including MasterFX.
