Materials Zone’s core product is a data platform and toolset that ingests data from scientific instruments, manufacturing facilities, lab equipment, external databases, published articles, Excel sheets and more, then parses and standardizes it. The platform lets researchers visualize standardized data and provides data and workflow management tools to reduce redundant experiments and improve collaboration. Materials Zone also offers analytical and machine-learning tools to help researchers interpret aggregated data and speed R&D. The company positions its technology as a way to make discovery processes—such as finding materials for a photovoltaic transparent window—faster and cheaper by avoiding thousands of redundant experiments. CEO and founder Dr. Assaf Anderson developed the approach based on his experience heading the Combinatorial Materials lab at Bar Ilan University’s Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials.
