Matisse Pharmaceuticals

Burgemeester Lemmensstraat 352, Geleen, Limburg, 6160 BC, The Netherlands

Overview

Matisse Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage Dutch company developing M6229, a non-anticoagulant fraction of heparin intended to neutralize toxic circulatory histones in sepsis patients. The company says neutralising cationic histones with M6229 inhibits the self-enforcing cascade that can lead to rapid organ failure; preclinical results have shown this inhibitory effect. Matisse recently secured €3.6M in a fresh funding round from Brightlands Venture Partners, private investment companies, informal investors, and the management team to support development. The financing will allow preparation for a large-scale phase II study and cover the planned full execution of phase II clinical trials. By 2024 the company aims to complete its Series A to fund scaling up production to commercial level and advance various R&D projects. Matisse plans to announce results of its phase 1/2a Histoseps trial in sepsis patients, which it describes as a major milestone. The company was founded in 2014 and is based in Geelan in the Netherlands.
